Water recycling technology to secure Perth’s future drinking water

This followed the completion of a successful three-year Groundwater Replenishment Trial in Craigie which ended in December 2012 and demonstrated the technology could be used in Perth.
Groundwater replenishment is the process where secondary treated wastewater undergoes advanced treatment, which includes ultra-filtration, reverse osmosis and ultraviolet disinfection, to produce recycled water which meets Australian guidelines for drinking water prior to being recharged to an aquifer for later use as a drinking water source.
